In many parts of Germany, during the cold winter season, you can find special little figures, made of dough, so called “Weckmann”.
The pastry figure originally represented a bishop (St. Nicholas or St. Martin). Therefore, in some regions the dough man is eaten on St. Nicholas day, in other regions at St. Martins, and in other regions even in January.
Children are already waiting for the sweet dough man and they receive it either as a gift or prepare it with their parents at home
Ingredients: wheat flour, milk, sugar, lemon zest, yeast and raisins.
